Internationally,a catastrophic earthquake hit Haiti on January 12, causing major damage in Port-au-Prince and other cities. It resulted in over 100,000 fatalities and multitudes of damage to Port-au-Prince and the surrounding areas. This earthquake also triggered a tsunami, which hit and caused more damage to the coast of Haiti and claimed another 3 lives.
Nationally, the Affordable Care Act was signed into law by president Barack Obama. This act had the main goal of making medical care and insurance more affordable and accessible to all people. This includes working to make medical care delivery options designed to be lower cost, expanding the Medicaid program so more adults who need the help are eligible, and making affordable health insurance available and more accessible to more people.
Locally, Somerville Police Department was flooded with UFO sighting reports over Somerset County for a large, tube-like object in the sky. Local county air travel control towers said there were no pilot reports of this mysterious UFO. It was suspected to be a weather balloon, but there was no further investigation because it wasn’t harming the community in any way.
My younger brother was born on August 16, 2010! At this point I would be 2, so I don’t really remember the cute baby years because I was a baby myself.
My family never really went on big vacations simply because we didn't have the money, but we have always gone up to Massachusetts to visit my grandparents and other family.
