Internationally, the UK experienced multiple terrorist attacks including the Westminster terror on 22 of March, Manchester Arena bombing 22 of May, and the London bridge terror 3 of June. A cumulative of 35 people were killed and more than 250 people injured. This devastated residents of the affected areas because of how frequent this string of attacks were from many different people.
Nationally, neo-Nazis and white supremacists protest the removal of a confederate statue in Charlottesville, Virginia. Hundreds of men marched through school grounds prior to when the protest became violent. It wasn’t until the next day where antifa and counter-protesters rallied against the white supremacists. Police broke up the protest, but not until many were injured and a peaceful protester.
Locally, nearly two dozen people across Somerset, Bergen, and Middlesex counties were charged after a drug, gun distribution ring bust, named “Operation Bird Cage”. From this mission, 1 kilogram of cocaine, methamphetamine, 1 pound of marijuana, 2010 bags of heroin, 298 oxycodone pills, six Roxycodone pills, 48 morphine pills 15 ecstasy pills, 247 suboxone films, 294 unidentified pills, a hydraulic kilo-press and various other drug manufacturing equipment were all seized by police, having a street value of about $370,745.
