Internationally, scientists discovered the reason concrete from ancient Rome is so strong was because of the mixing technique they used. In ancient Rome, they used a hot-mixing technique when mixing quicklime with and/or instead of aggregate-scale lime. Scientists have proposed this combination may have served as the reason Roman concrete has crack-filling abilities.


Nationally, the Writer’s Guild of America goes on strike for better pay and industry changes. Thousands of individuals went on strike, being the first walkout in over 15 years. This protest brought many forms of entertainment dictated by script to a standstill, causing economic and technological stress in Hollywood.


Locally, a Westfield middle school teacher was arrested after an alleged overdose on fentanyl in class. He was found unconscious in a classroom by students and treated by a school nurse. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and endangering the welfare of children.

Personal History

With yet another uneventful year, there is not much to report. I made the junior varsity team for volleyball during sophomore year and got to start for a lot of the games. This was, also, the year I performed in my first musical, Newsies! Other than that, there is nothing really remarkable about this year.
